After further investigation, we determined that the impact of this incident is limited to a small subset of hosts who have a large number of Vrbo listings, within individual connected accounts. We are closing the incident and will communicate privately with affected customers.

We have identified a small number of users who have been able to abuse our APIs, sending large amounts of traffic to our API causing a number of intermittent errors to occur. We have taken steps to further protect ourselves, and the application, moving forward.

This incident has been resolved.

After careful monitoring we are happy we have resolved the issues related to the Booking.com API.
